Good Morning everyone – it looks like the plants are all enjoying the drink of water after so much sunshine.

I hope you are all well and enjoying the Week 2 packs – we do welcome the feedback so do email in to let us know how we are doing.

Many of you would have already heard about the following link, for home learning activities, which is now being suggested as a resource by the DfE. These may work well alongside our learning packs as well as the BBC Bitesize resource I posted below, on 20.04.2020. Please note: Our Week 3 Learning Packs will be emailed to you on Friday this week.

I received an email this week from the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) with the offer of a parent webinar: This FREE webinar for children and parents will look at why the arts and design are so important to our dyslexic and dyspraxia community. Click on the link below to have a closer look.

The BDA have a range of webinars and course for parents around supporting children – I have posted a link on the Mental Health and Well-being page which may be useful too.

Tomorrow, we will be updating the teacher blogs with our replies to any emails we have received from you.  We love hearing about the children’s activities at home – you can do this via our Twitter page or by emailing leavers@cassioburyjm.herts.sch.uk.

Best wishes,

30.03.20

Hi everyone – I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Please see updates for this week below:

  1. I will be putting together a Mental Health and Wellbeing page on our website with some links to support each other in these changing times.
  2. Challenge Sport have put together a timetable of activities for you. See attached: Suggested Timetable 1 Week Beginning 30.3.20
  3. A message from Mrs Potter, one of our Year 6 teachers and part of the English leaders team:  We hope you will use this time at home to foster a love of reading in your child and enjoy the wonderful world of the written word. Reading is one the best things that your child can do and how great to have the time to really enjoy some books together. Reading to themselves is beneficial in so many ways. It widens their vocabulary incredibly, introduces them to worlds and places they could never visit, enables them to develop empathy, makes them laugh and cry, informs them and piques their curiosity. Reading regularly over the coming weeks will build your child’s concentration levels and improve fluency and pace. The books on the book project are simply a few suggestions. In choosing them we selected award winners and books highly recommended on trusted sites. In addition, we have listed recommended book lists from the website http://www.lovereading4schools.co.uk  for your children to browse. There is a children’s sister website called http://www.lovereading4kids.co.uk that your child may like to visit. Here they can read extracts and sometimes whole chapters of books.  We hope you enjoy curling up with a book together.

Thanks for your continued support. Please check back regularly for updates.

Many thanks,

Mrs Newman

Assistant Head of Inclusion
