30.03.20

Hi everyone – I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Please see updates for this week below:

  1. I will be putting together a Mental Health and Wellbeing page on our website with some links to support each other in these changing times.
  2. Challenge Sport have put together a timetable of activities for you. See attached: Suggested Timetable 1 Week Beginning 30.3.20
  3. A message from Mrs Potter, one of our Year 6 teachers and part of the English leaders team:  We hope you will use this time at home to foster a love of reading in your child and enjoy the wonderful world of the written word. Reading is one the best things that your child can do and how great to have the time to really enjoy some books together. Reading to themselves is beneficial in so many ways. It widens their vocabulary incredibly, introduces them to worlds and places they could never visit, enables them to develop empathy, makes them laugh and cry, informs them and piques their curiosity. Reading regularly over the coming weeks will build your child’s concentration levels and improve fluency and pace.

The books on the book project are simply a few suggestions. In choosing them we selected award winners and books highly recommended on trusted sites. In addition, we have listed recommended book lists from the website http://www.lovereading4schools.co.uk  for your children to browse. There is a children’s sister website called http://www.lovereading4kids.co.uk that your child may like to visit. Here they can read extracts and sometimes whole chapters of books.

We hope you enjoy curling up with a book together.

Thanks for your continued support. Please check back regularly for updates.

Many thanks,

Mrs Newman

Assistant Head of Inclusion
